‘Send Help’: Sam Raimi’s Next Horror Movie
Sam Raimi is finally returning to the horror genre. The horror master known for the ‘Evil Dead’ series is gearing up to direct his first horror movie since ‘Drag Me To Hell’ (2009).
Revealed by Deadline in July 2024, ‘Send Help’ will be Raimi’s latest horror film, and his first in over 15 years.
What is ‘Send Help’ about?
Deadline describes the film as a horror thriller set on an island that is in the vein of “Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation ‘Misery’ and Robert Zemeckis’ classic ‘Castaway’”.
This lines up with the rumored plot details that leaked in 2023. According to industry leaker Daniel Richtman, who has been right in the past, the movie’s premise is as follows:
“The film is a comedy-adventure horror about Linda, a female employee, and her irritating boss, Bradley. On a business flight, their plane crashes on an island with only the two of them making it out alive. Linda has serious survival skills, which means she’s Bradley’s only hope to stay alive.” (via World of Reel)
The script is by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who also penned the 2009 ‘Friday the 13th’ reboot.
20th Century Studios will produce the film.
When will ‘Send Help’ release?
It is currently unknown when the film will be released or enter production.
